We have a wonderful treat for everyone this month.
Our opening this month, Thursday, May 2nd from 5 to 8 PM, will host nationally known artist Keith Perelli.
Keith Perelli is a visual artist working in painting, printmaking and drawing. His figurative work explores a variety of social political and personal issues. He is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and teaches Drawing and Painting at New Orleans Center for Creative Art, a pre-college conservatory for the arts. He has participated in numerous, national and international invitation and juried exhibitions. Mr. Perelli is a recipient of a SURDNA Foundation’s Arts Teacher Fellowship, a Louisiana Division of the Arts Fellowship, and a Foundazione Ratti Arts Fellowship. He has received five professional development grants from the Louisiana Division of the Arts. He was recently awarded a Downtown District Development /RTA commission for a public works project on Canal Street in New Orleans. He selected as the juror for the September 23rd Competition at the Alexandria Museum of Arts (Alexandria, in 2011 and will serve as juror for the Grand Isle (Grand Isle, LA) Juried Competition in 2013. A mid-career survey of his work titled “Empathy, A survey of the work of Keith Perelli.” was shown at the Alexandria Museum of Art in the Summer of 2012.
Mr. Perelli has had solo exhibitions in New Orleans, Los Angeles and Houston. He studied in Italy with “Happenings” artist Alan Kaprow in 1997 through a scholarship awarded by the Ratti Foundation, Como Italy and artist Ron Pokrasso in Santa Fe New Mexico in 2008 awarded through the SURDNA Foundation, New York. His work was featured in the “University of New Orleans 3 Person Alumni Works on Paper,” Innsbruck, Austria and “Louisiana Artists,” Alexandria Museum of Art, LA. He was also featured in “Culture of Queer,” Leslie Lohman Foundation, New York, NY and an exhibit titled “Katrina, Catastrophe and Catharsis,” at the Fine Arts Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was awarded best of show for the “22nd September Competition,” Alexandria Museum of Art, Alexandria, LA and “Louisiana Artists” at the LSU Gallery, Baton Rouge, LA
